The Dental Hygiene Program at UTHealth School of Dentistry (UTSD) at Houston prepares students for careers at every professional level. Our students learn from nationally recognized faculty and study in state-of-the-art facilities in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center, working side-by-side with other dental team members.

We offer a traditional Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (BSDH) degree, as well as an online "RDH-to-BSDH" program that lets students work as they upgrade their credentials. Already have a degree in something else? Earn a Post-Degree Certificate in Dental Hygiene and expand your career options. BSDH students may also seek concurrent enrollment at UTHealth School of Public Health for a certificate or master's degree in public health.

Founded in 1905, The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston was the first dental school in Texas and was a founding institution of the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. The school continues to lead dental education today as part of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

The University of Texas School of Dentistry, a part of UT Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), educates dentists, dental hygienists, and dental specialists, including oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, endodontists, periodontists, prosthodontists, and pediatric dentists. The school also offers a general practice residency and advanced education in general dentistry.
