This course is for you if you want to deepen your knowledge of Economics or Finance and potentially go on to study a PhD or research in the area of Economics or Finance.
Our MSc in Financial Economics provides you with a foundation for a career as an economic or financial analyst in the business, government or a major international organisation. You will develop an in-depth understanding of the principles of finance, investment analysis and analytical methods of modern finance.
You will gain an advanced understanding of the key theories and concepts of finance and investment through our core modules. You will be able to pursue your own areas of interest in two core modules and through your dissertation.
You will gain a strong command of analytical techniques, computing and research methods for problem-solving and develop your critical analysis of economic theories and debates. The degree will equip you with confidence in the use and presentation of economic arguments in your professional role.

The MSc in Financial Economics opens up career options as an economic or financial analyst in business, government or a major international organisation. The course also prepares you for a PhD in Economics or Finance.
A good second class honours degree or equivalent from a recognised university in economics or finance.
IELTS 6.5 or equivalent. If your first language is not English, you may need to provide evidence of your English language ability. If you do not yet meet our requirements, our English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) offers a range of courses to help you to improve your English to the necessary standard.
