Justification

The general objective of the Master's Degree in New Technologies in Computing is to train the student for research, development and innovation in the area of Information and Communication Technologies, having a clear awareness of its human, economic and social dimension, legal and ethical, qualifying for the analysis, conception, development and management of research projects for application computer solutions in services related to the Information and Knowledge Society, as well as for teaching in Computer Science.

In addition, a set of specific objectives are identified where each of which will be the basis for defining the specific competences of a given training itinerary.

For the Artificial Intelligence and medical applications training itinerary the objective is to train students to be able to select, integrate and evaluate the models and theories of computer science in the identification, analysis, description and resolution of problems related to ICTs in the field of biomedicine.

For the Networks and Telematics training itinerary, the objective is to train students to be able to model, design, implement, evaluate and manage communication architectures and networks, fostering the capacity for innovation through knowledge of new trends and lines of research. in these areas.

For the ubiquitous computing environment engineering training pathway , the objective is to train students to be able to select sensor mechanisms, manage mobility, traceability, and make context-sensitive computing applications leading to the design of ubiquitous systems.

The objective of the Software Technologies training pathway is to train students to be able to use and develop research methodologies, methods and techniques in the field of Information Technology and Software Technologies, while being able to innovate.

For the Industrial Informatics training itinerary the objective is to train students to be able to use and develop research methodologies, methods and techniques in the field of Industrial Informatics, being able to innovate.

The objective of the High Performance and Supercomputing Architectures training pathway is to train students to be able to use and develop research methodologies, methods and techniques in the fields of High Performance Architectures and Supercomputing, being able to innovate .

For the training path Mathematics Applied to Information and Communication Technologies the objective is to train students to be able to efficiently apply advanced mathematical methods in computer science, both theoretical and applied.

Finally, underline that the Study Plan of this Master's Degree takes into account that any professional activity must be carried out:

  • From the respect and promotion of Human Rights and the principles of universal accessibility.
  • In accordance with the values of a culture of peace and democratic values.

The following specific competencies are established for the University Master's Degree in New Technologies in Computing by the Universidad de Murcia based on the proposed training itineraries.

Training Itinerary: Artificial Intelligence and medical applications

  • Ability to integrate technologies, applications, services and systems typical of Computer Engineering, with a general character, and in broader and multidisciplinary contexts.
  • Ability to apply mathematical, statistical and artificial intelligence methods to model, design and develop applications, services, intelligent systems and knowledge-based systems.
  • Ability to select, integrate and evaluate the models and theories of computer science in the identification, analysis, description and resolution of problems related to ICTs in the field of biomedicine.
  • Ability to understand the scope and evaluate the scope that ICTs can have in the field of biomedicine.
  • Ability to use and develop methodologies, methods and research techniques in the field of artificial intelligence, with application in medicine, being able to innovate.

Training Itinerary: Networks and Telematics

  • Ability to understand and know how to apply the operation and organization of the Internet, new generation network technologies and protocols, component models, intermediary software and services.
  • Ability to design, develop, manage and evaluate certification and security guarantee mechanisms in the treatment and access to information in a local or distributed processing system.
  • Ability to understand and manage mobility mechanisms in networks, and their implications for systems and services.
  • Ability to design, develop and evaluate security mechanisms in communications and how they affect network services and applications.

Training Itinerary: Engineering of ubiquitous computing environments

  • Ability to integrate technologies, applications, services and systems typical of Computer Engineering, with a general character, and in broader and multidisciplinary contexts.
  • Ability to design and develop computer systems, applications and services in embedded and ubiquitous systems.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design, develop and evaluate the person-computer interaction of computer products, systems, applications and services.
  • Ability to use and develop methodologies, methods and research techniques in the field of Ubiquitous Systems, being able to innovate.

Training Itinerary: Software Technologies

  • Ability to integrate technologies, applications, services and systems typical of Computer Engineering, with a general character, and in broader and multidisciplinary contexts.
  • Ability to understand and know how to apply the operation and organization of the Internet, component models, intermediary software and services.
  • Ability to analyze and model the information needs that arise in an environment and carry out the process of building an information system at all stages.
  • Ability to apply Software Engineering methods, techniques and tools to model, design and develop Information Systems, applications and services that meet the requirements of users.
  • Ability to design and develop computer systems, applications and services in distributed systems and Web systems.
  • Ability to use and develop research methodologies, methods and techniques in the field of Information Technology, being able to innovate.
  • Ability to integrate technologies, applications, services and systems typical of Computer Engineering, with a general character, and in broader and multidisciplinary contexts.
  • Ability to understand and know how to apply the operation and organization of the Internet, component models, intermediary software and services.
  • Ability to test and identify vulnerabilities in software systems.
  • Ability to analyze and model the information needs that arise in an environment and carry out the process of building an information system at all stages.
  • Ability to apply Software Engineering methods, techniques and tools to model, design and develop Information Systems, applications and services that meet the requirements of users.
  • Ability to apply model-based techniques and methods to automate software systems.
  • Ability to use and develop methodologies, methods and research techniques in the field of Software Technologies, being able to innovate.

Training Itinerary: Industrial Computing

  • Ability to design and develop applications, services and computer systems in the industrial field, as well as to plan and carry out research and development projects involving computer control applications, robotics and artificial vision.
  • Capacity for the specification, design, assembly, debugging and maintenance of computerized monitoring and control systems, and their integration in the field of industrial networks, as well as development of real-time applications and software in general for the control of industrial processes a via computer.
  • Ability to design and develop image processing and machine vision applications
  • Ability to use and develop research methodologies, methods and techniques in the field of Industrial Computing, being able to innovate.

Training Itinerary: High Performance Architectures and Supercomputing

  • Ability to integrate technologies, applications, services and systems typical of Computer Engineering, with a general character, and in broader and multidisciplinary contexts.
  • Ability to model, design, define and organize architecture, implement, manage, operate and administer computer systems, networks, services and applications.
  • Ability to design and evaluate operating systems and servers, and applications and systems based on distributed computing.
  • Ability to understand and apply advanced knowledge of high-performance computing and numerical or computational methods to engineering problems.
  • Ability to identify a computing problem given a problem and the most appropriate high-performance computing techniques for its resolution.
  • Ability to analyze, design, develop, debug, and optimize parallel applications by exploiting the underlying programming model and architecture.
  • Ability to use and develop methodologies, methods and research techniques in the fields of High Performance Architectures and Supercomputing, being able to innovate.

Training Itinerary: Mathematics Applied to Information and Communication Technologies

  • Ability to integrate technologies, applications, services and systems typical of Computer Engineering, with a general character, and in broader and multidisciplinary contexts.
  • Ability to apply mathematical, statistical and artificial intelligence methods to model, design and develop applications, services, intelligent systems and knowledge-based systems.
  • Ability to understand and use mathematical methods in the study of cryptographic security, as well as the influence that small changes can have on the security of the entire system.
  • Ability to use and develop specific use matrix, geometric and statistical computation methods, norms and standards for graphic computing.
  • Ability to understand and use signal and system analysis techniques, knowing the problems inherent in signal sampling and quantification (digitization), and mathematical tools such as Fourier, Laplace, Z transforms, and differential and difference equations to solve problems both discrete, continuous and hybrid.
  • Ability to mathematically model complex systems.
  • Ability to use and develop methodologies, methods and research techniques in the field of Mathematics, being able to innovate.
  • Ability to lead interdisciplinary work groups between mathematicians and computer scientists.

Since its creation, the CSCE has organized both virtual and physical distribution of the Code of Ethics. Currently, all the buildings of the Universidad de Murcia , not only the faculties, but also those destined for the staff, have one or two dispensers with copies of the Code of Ethics, which are being replaced.

In addition, all the new workers of the Universidad de Murcia now receive the Code of Ethics in the Human Resources Area.
