Chemistry is a science that can be used to resolve many of the challenges faced by society today, from health issues to sustainable development. This program has been designed to provide students with cutting-edge knowledge in chemistry to be equipped to meet these challenges.
The program builds strong expertise in many different fields of chemistry including organic, organometallic, supramolecular, solid-state, and inorganic. It also builds bridges towards other scientific fields such as biology, material sciences, and energy. This approach paves the way for students to develop innovations at the crossroads of different technological fields. The teaching is supported by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris research units, renowned for their excellence in chemistry including molecular chemistry, physical chemistry, and material sciences.
To complete their Master’s degree, first-year students can enter the following second-year programs:
The Materials Chemistry and Interfaces Master’s program aims to provide a fundamental understanding of all aspects relating to the development and engineering of materials. Students will enhance their ability to research, design, assess, implement, and review solutions to the challenges facing our society across a wide range of materials. The main applications relate to energy, transport, electronics, medicine, nanotechnologies, and health.
The courses are taught by expert academics through formal lecturing and student-led coursework. Students will have access to top-level infrastructure when working on real research projects as part of established research groups.
The Master’s program allows engineers and scientists from a variety of backgrounds (chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, or physics) to build on their experience and expertise. It provides a strong base in engineering and sciences that can be transferred to the next stage of their career in academia or industry.
The Molecular Chemistry and Interfaces (MOCHI) Master’s program is a high-level scientific and academic program offered by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and the Université Paris Saclay. It is devoted to molecular chemistry and its applications in the fields of biology and material sciences.
The program delivers state-of-the-art knowledge in academic sciences and brings students closer to applications in industry. In order to reach a better understanding, students will be given access to molecular modeling tools.
The courses focus on organometallic chemistry and catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, chemobiology, and chemistry for optoelectronics. Delivered in English, the program also includes literature and total synthesis project, as well as a 6-month research project.
The Institut Polytechnique de Paris is a world-class Institute of science and technology encompassing 5 prestigious French engineering Schools: École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris, Télécom SudParis.
Located on the Plateau de Saclay, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris campus brings together its five founding Schools. It offers students, faculty members and staff top-notch facilities to pursue their activities in a lively and stimulating environment. Set in the heart of one of the world's top eight innovation hubs, the campus benefits from the dynamism created by the private and public players based within the cluster. Ideally located just outside Paris, the campus is easily accessible by public transportation, allowing students and faculty members to take advantage of the economic dynamism and rich cultural life of the French capital
Research at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris is built on the recognized expertise of its Schools in ten major disciplines: Biology; Chemistry and Processes; Economics; Information, Communications and Electronics; Computer Science, Data, and AI; Mathematics; Mechanics and Energetics; Physics; Humanities, Arts, Literature and Languages; Social Sciences and Management. The research programs established by the disciplinary departments identify key fields and develop transdisciplinary research projects in partnership with industry. Research focuses on 12 research areas: Environment & climate ; Energy transition ; Artificial Intelligence and Data science ; Networks and the Internet of Things ; Mathematics and digital simulation ; Cybersecurity ; Defense ; Geopolitics and strategy ; Innovative Materials and Quantum Technologies ; Lasers and plasma Science ; Robotics ; Bioengineering. To this end, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris has set up major interdisciplinary centers to take up the greatest economic and social challenges of our time.
