The cybersecurity minor starts during the Fall 2021 semester. This minor is intended to be suitable for landing entry-level work in the field. It is accessible to students in any major at HSU.

Three courses include topics directly relevant to the industry-recognized CompTIA certifications. Although students aren’t required to sit for the certification exams if they choose to do so (and pass the exams) they will have a widely accepted certification to accompany their transcript. The courses and certifications are:

Computer Networking -> Networking+

Intro to Cybersecurity -> Security+

Penetration Testing -> PenTest+

In the current scheduling of courses a student can start the minor in any fall semester and will need three years to complete it in order to satisfy pre-requisites and limited scheduling.

So, what does make HSU different?

Honestly, you won’t know what makes Hardin-Simmons different from other universities until you visit. When prospective students visit the campus, they use the words “family” and “home” to describe HSU. We think that says a lot about us, and we’d love to have you come visit.

But right now, you want to know why you should even come to visit. So, let’s start at HSU’s beginning … actually before its formation.
