BSc - Bachelor of Life Sciences
The objective of this bachelor’s degree is to allow students to acquire solid scientific knowledge for a real understanding of the living things. This also involves the teaching of biology and the general organisation of the animal and vegetable kingdoms as well as the functioning of organisms, from the molecular level to integrated biological systems. Teaching is designed to combine fundamental concepts and teaching of methodological tools. As often as possible, topical issues in research and its applications are presented. Objectives also include demonstrating that an understanding of the living world is done through a multidisciplinary approach, giving students the tools and concepts that will allow them to make diagnostic evaluations and establish corrective measures in all the fields of biology and developing critical analysis of the concerns of society in relation to biology (cloning, GMOs, health, the environment).

Career Prospects This major leads to *technician and technical management jobs in the food industry, health and pharmaceuticals, environmental protection, chemistry, cosmetology, perfume, biotechnology occupations (production, packaging, testing, quality, marketing). It can lead to teaching, jobs as police technicians or engineers, and occupations in technology forecasting and scientific and technical information.
Well-targeted public - Students who have validated a BGPC programme (Biology, Geology, Physics, Chemistry) in the integration cycle of UPMC have full right to enter at L2. According to the particular details involved, entry into L2 can be offered to students who have partially validated their L1. After an interview with the studies department for L2, a learning contract is offered to these students.
Students coming from the first cycle of medical studies, the first year of preparatory classes for the grandes écoles or those holding a BTS or DUT can enter into the second year of the degree after their application has been examined.
Students coming from the second year of preparatory classes for the grandes écoles can enter the third year of the degree after their application has been examined.
Entry is also possible at L2 or L3 on the basis of validated studies, professional
experience or professional skills.
Adjusted teaching timetables are possible for working students who can prove that they are working full- or parttime, those seeking employment, employees in continued education, students doing a double curriculum and disabled and special-needs students.
Those with DAEU (Diploma for entry into university studies).
