Manufacturing Systems Engineering is a unique program in the Netherlands on the interface of machine technology and industrial processes. This program satisfies the needs of industry for "broad engineers" who understand the technology of machines as well as the complex environment these machines are operating in.

Challenge on multiple levels

Because of digitization and automation, the manufacturing industry is now rapidly changing. The whole chain of products, machines, factories, warehouses, and customers, or the Internet of Things, is able to share and exchange information. To fully exploit this network of information for more effective and efficient production, the manufacturing systems engineer of the future should have knowledge of the whole chain: from the technology inside the machine up to the level of supply chains. The master's program Manufacturing Systems Engineering offers this combination of technical knowledge of high-tech production systems and knowledge of production processes and supply chains and shows how to apply this knowledge effectively at both system and network level. In other words: an excellent basis for a directing role in the high-tech manufacturing industry!

Bachelor College and Graduate School With a view to the future, TU/e has begun a major educational reform. The Bachelor's and Master's programs remain but are being incorporated in a Bachelor College and Graduate School respectively. Students will be given more freedom and can even choose to follow a broad-based program with society-oriented subjects or opt for a very specialized science program.

With advanced quality research, the university contributes to the progress of technical sciences and thus the development of technological innovations. We focus on areas in which we participate in the international scientific community. This can play an important role. The TU/e wants to give significant impetus to the knowledge-intensive industries and other social sectors with a high or rapidly evolving technology intensity.
