Why study this program

This program is awarded by the University for the Creative Arts, an institution that has been ranked 13th out of all UK universities in The Guardian League Tables 2020 and ranked 7th in business, marketing, and management (The Guardian League Tables 2021).

During your BA, you’ll learn about working in an international business environment through modules including Economics for the Global Service Industry, Transportation: The Airline and Cruising Industry as well as Sustainable Tourism in the Developing World. You’ll also have the opportunity to choose between either the Hospitality and Food and Beverage Pathway or the Tourism and Events Management Pathway, depending on your career goals.

The BA requires you to choose between the three or four-year International Route. The four-year route will include a foundation year which will help you develop core knowledge of creative business and management. Additionally, you’ll be fully prepared for using English in academic work.

Throughout the program, you’ll develop expert knowledge of the tourism and hospitality industry which is needed if you want to help your business to achieve its goals. Lectures, discussions, and class visits will allow you to learn practical skills.

Entry Requirements

Foundation (International Route)

• Minimum Age: 17 (titles awarded upon completion of at least 11 years of schooling)
• Academic Qualifications: ECCTIS UK equivalent to GCSE
• English Language Requirements:
  • Official English Tests
    • IELTS – minimum overall score of 5.0 (with min 4.5 in each component);
    • Password test – minimum overall score of 5.0 (with min 4.5 in each component);
    • PTE (Academic) – minimum overall score of 46 (with min 41 in each component);
    • LanguageCert International ESOL SELT overall score of B1 Achiever High Pass;
    • Duolingo test with an overall score of 95+.
  • West African Certificates (WAEC AND NECO only) as a stand-alone with a minimum of C6 in English and issued within the last 5 years. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) is also accepted with an overall grade of C or above. For Tanzania and Cameroon, we request an IELTS (or equivalent certificate).
  • WAEC/NECO must be enhanced by a successful (50%+) Internal English Assessment if issued more than 5 years ago.
  • Nationals of a majority English-speaking country who have taken their academic qualifications in that country, do not need to sit an English test ( Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Malta, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, UK and USA.
  • The English Language test can be waived and a Medium of Instruction Letter submitted if:
    • Applicants have achieved an ECCTIS UK-recognised High School Certificate, where the medium of instruction was entirely in English (teaching and assessment);
    • You are a Canadian national who has completed studies at an English-speaking School/College/University.

BA (Hons)

• Minimum Age: 18 years old (titles awarded upon completion of at least 12 years of schooling)
• Academic Qualifications:
  • A school leaving certificate that allows you to pursue higher education in Germany (e.g. Abitur, Fachhochschulreife, Matura or International Baccalaureate), or International school leaving certificates, or BTEC/National Diploma, or Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education.
  • If you do not meet the above academic requirements, applicants with professional qualifications and/or 4 or more years of full-time work experience will be considered on an individual basis.
• English Language Requirements:
  • Official English Tests
    • IELTS – minimum overall score of 6.0 (with min 5.5 in each component);
    • Password test – minimum overall score of 6.0 (with min 5.5 in each component);
    • PTE (Academic) – minimum overall score of 56 ( with min 51 in each component);
    • TOEFL IBT overall score of 80 (Listening 17, Reading 18, Speaking 20, Writing 17);
    • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) or Cambridge English Proficiency overall score of 69 (min 162 in each component);
    • LanguageCert International ESOL SELT overall score of B2 Communicator High Pass (min 33 in each component);
    • Duolingo test with an overall score of 105.

High Achievers Scholarship

BSBI’s High Achievers Scholarships allow students to receive up to 50% scholarship on tuition. This is only available for international students and the entry requirements for the programmes must be met.

Undergraduate Programmes

• Age: 17 - 20 years old
• Education background:
  • High school graduate;
  • With titles awarded upon completion of at least 11 years of schooling;
  • Academic Qualifications: ECCTIS equivalent to GCSE.
• Work experience: None / possible early age freelance part-time jobs due to online opportunities boom.

Postgraduate Programmes

• Age: 21 - 34 years old
• Education background:
  • Undergraduate/Bachelor's Degree;
  • May be assessed on the relevant work experience of at least 3 years of management experience;
  • Potentially with other Postgraduate Degrees (looking to switch careers).
• Work experience: May be assessed on the relevant work experience of at least 3 years of management experience.

Doctorate Degree

• Age: 23 - above
• Education background:
  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution in a business-related discipline; a master’s degree or a Level 7 postgraduate qualification, or an MBA from a recognised Institution.
  • Applicants with degrees in other disciplines and applicants with no bachelor’s or master’s degree, but with other academic qualifications and significant professional experience at the executive level are also welcome to apply. Their acceptance might be subject to successfully sitting to an entrance test and an interview.
