American National University’s Surgical Technology associate’s degree program¹ is designed to provide you with the technical skills and knowledge required for entry-level employment as a member of a surgical healthcare team.
Through a blended curriculum of lecture, labs, and clinical training, you will develop the necessary medical and technical skills you need to be successful.
As a student in the Surgical Technology program, you will:
- Become knowledgeable on current operating and delivery room procedures.
- Learn how to work in high-pressure situations.
- Gain first-hand experience in a healthcare setting.
- Complete a surgical externship placement.
Our program is designed to meet the standards required to take the Certified Surgical Technologist exam (C.S.T.), written and administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Your Learning Experience
Introduction to Surgical Technology
Learn the various tasks a surgical technologist will perform from pre-operative through post-operative procedures.
Surgical Procedures I
Learn about the instrumentation and procedural steps used in the surgical environment and begin to practice those skills.
Surgical Procedures III
Work as a surgical technology assistant in a real surgical environment.
