The Master of Professional Accounting offered at the Wentworth Institute provides students with the advanced knowledge and skills necessary to perform effectively at a leadership level in the field of professional accounting. The course is approved by the professional accrediting bodies, CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). The Master of Professional Accounting degree is of four semester’s duration full-time and includes nested programs at Graduate Certificate (one-semester full time) and Graduate Diploma (two semesters full time) levels.

A feature of these programs is the inclusion of a core Business Communication subject. This subject will not only help to ensure students’ success throughout the course by developing needed written and oral communication skills but will also enhance graduates’ employability. The inclusion of a core Business Ethics subject will not only ensure students’ appreciation of the importance of ethical decision-making in business but will also establish a guiding principal to be reinforced and applied in both subsequent studies as well as professional activities.

Another important feature of the Master of Professional Accounting degree program is the requirement to undertake a Business Project subject focused on developing students’ needed research skills which will be demonstrated by the execution of a substantial piece of research in the form of a project.

Wentworth was a landowner and sheep grazier who had an adventurous spirit and a desire to discover new pastures; this led him at the young age of twenty-three in 1818 to undertake the first inland exploration in New South Wales, crossing over the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. He completed the difficult but successful exploration alongside his fellow explorers Gregory Blaxland and William Lawson. Wentworth had a full and adventurous life, he changed lives as well as influencing laws, politics, and notably the educational systems in Australia.
