This Degree Programme offers one curriculum taught in English: Economics and Financial Markets.
This curriculum aims to develop the expertise needed to evaluate, design and use financial products and to analyze national and international financial markets.
The first two years provide basic preparation in Economics, Management, Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics and Law, while the third year focuses on Monetary and Financial Economics and Policy, International Macroeconomics, Financial Markets and Institutions, Corporate Finance, Statistics for Finance and Financial Econometrics.
The courses are taught within an international cultural environment.
In addition to the standard courses, seminars on advanced topics are given by professors and experts from international universities and institutions.
Students attending the program are encouraged to participate in the various Exchange Programs available in EU and non-EU universities and to undertake internships.
The course aims to provide students with a strong command of both theoretical and applied economics topics together with relevant teaching in business, legal, mathematical and statistical disciplines.
Students are prepared to address and resolve problems in macro- and micro-economic environments, exploiting a multiplicity of analytical tools that combine the fundamental principles of economic sciences with mathematical and statistical methods and the necessary methodologies for their application in economics. Particular importance is attributed to the ability to model economic, social and cultural phenomena.
In a context of international integration of real and financial markets, the course analyses the overall functioning of economic systems and studies the behavior of companies, private-sector organizations and public-sector bodies that constitute these systems.
From the various topics studied in the course, five areas emerge which jointly contribute to the realization of the most effective learning objectives for the intended professional profiles.
These profiles are also recognized by the labor and management organizations that have been consulted.
Area ‘Culture and general and applied learning’ Area ‘Economics’ Area ‘Business administration and management’ Area ‘Quantitative studies’ Area ‘Legal studies’

Universities are crossroads of knowledge.
Following the Lisbon strategy, which emphasizes the creation of a more competitive and dynamic knowledge-based society, international mobility and internationalisation of the universities may represent a strategic tool for a social, cultural and economic development of a country. They can be considered as a challenge and an opportunity for the involved Higher Institutions to enlarge and enrich their range of the courses offered.
The internationalisation of its system, which has been started by the University of Trieste since long, is perfectly in line with these points and lies also in the strategic position and historical international vocation of the city of Trieste.
The University of Trieste is actively involved in different Programmes at a European level (LLP Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Alpe Adria, Bovec Summer School) and within wider European (Tempus) and international frameworks (ISEP Programme, International Mobility Grant Programme, Marco Polo Project).
