Thinking of a career in psychology? Or just want to explore an interest in the field? Our BSc Psychology is a great place to start. This course has been designed to equip you with critical psychological skills, knowledge and values that can be applied to real-world contexts.
Successful completion of this course will allow you to pursue further education in the field of psychology (like a PhD) or enhance your employability in areas such as health, education, management, policing, and beyond. We’re currently in the process of applying for accreditation from the British Psychological Society (BPS), allowing you to progress to become a Chartered Psychologist after graduation.
Applicants are required to possess 48 UCAS Points from a maximum of 3 A Levels or equivalent qualifications, plus GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade C/4.
International requirements: An English language level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or above with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
BSc (Hons) Psychology
If you're looking to take your first steps in a psychology-related field, our BSc (Hons) Psychology is a great place to start. This course offers a strong focus on applied learning to provide you with real-world skills to enhance your employability.
You will develop evidence-based knowledge of current psychological theories and issues and discover how they can be applied to everyday life as well as in a professional setting. You will also build skills in scientific reasoning, learn to understand the role of evidence and make critical judgements in psychological arguments.
Employability is embedded into this course from the beginning. Our Applications of Professional Psychology module and work-based learning built into Year 3 will allow you to explore and prepare for your career while you study.
You will graduate with skills such as problem-solving, research, communication and self-evaluation – competencies that can be applied to future studies, as well as enhancing your professional skills.
Why study BSc Psychology with us?
Foundation Year
You can choose to take an additional Foundation Year before you start your BSc in Psychology. This introductory year focuses on developing the key skills required to study at the degree level and covers the same six modules as our law and business degrees. The modules covered will initially enhance your communication skills, digital and information literacy and ability to think critically. You then have the added flexibility of switching your degree programme if another discipline captures your interest, subject to availability and entry requirements.

You will be able to choose modules from our other subject areas of law, criminology and policing, such as Mental Health Law (Law) and Gender, Sexuality and Crime (Criminology).
You will also have a choice of Psychology optional modules tailored to the unique specialisms of our lecturers, such as Cyber Psychology*.

We use a variety of formative and summative assessments designed to meet the overall course and individual module learning outcomes, as well as allow you to demonstrate your knowledge in a variety of innovative formats. Assessment methods will include:

You’ll enjoy a range of interactive and lively activities both inside and outside of the classroom. Business games, mock trials and negotiation competitions are just some of the practical exercises you’ll take part in to develop your legal skills. In your spare time, you can join a range of clubs and societies, sports teams and fundraising committees, or even start your own, as well as enjoying the more relaxed side of student social life.
All students are automatically members of the University’s Student Association (SA). The SA is tasked with enhancing your student and academic experience by having a strong representation of the student cohort.

Undergraduate Law, Policing and Criminology:
Our undergraduate LLB courses combine academic rigour with practical legal skills to provide you with the essential groundwork needed to begin your journey into a variety of careers.
Over 90% of our LLB tutors are qualified lawyers, bringing extensive practical experience to your studies. Our courses are available as full-time, accelerated, or online courses, so you can choose the study method that best suits your needs. Many of our courses also come with a Foundation Year option. In addition, we now offer undergraduate degrees in Policing and Criminology.
International Leadership Summer School, Berlin:
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting your ambitions, we are offering our 2019 undergraduate students the opportunity to attend our International Leadership Summer School in Berlin, where you can develop key employment skills and explore this exciting city with your fellow ULaw students.
This is open to all University of Law and ULaw Business School undergraduate students. If you apply to start your studies with us in September 2019, on a three-year degree course, you will be able to apply for our Leadership Summer School at the end of your second year of studies.
