Master the Spanish language and immerse yourself in the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.
We’re one of the only universities that require semester-long study abroad for language majors. Connect with native Spanish speakers in Valencia, Spain; Heredia, Costa Rica; Mérida, Mexico; or Havana, Cuba — to name a few.
While abroad, you’ll live with host families, do internships in fields such as health and grant writing, and take courses in a broad array of disciplines. You will also travel and make new, long-lasting friendships.
When you return to Susquehanna, you’ll bring back firsthand knowledge of the cultures you’ve experienced and a grasp of the Spanish language only achieved through immersion!
Fluency in this ever-growing language — one of the most widely spoken in the world — will give you an edge in any field. Nearly all our students are double majors, so take your passion for the language and pair it with another major, such as international studies, business, biology, psychology, or add one of our interdisciplinary minors to help you gain a better understanding of important topics in today’s world.
Our graduates become teachers, editors, translators, business entrepreneurs, interpreters, and medical professionals. They earn Fulbright grants, work in higher education and public relations, and go on to study Spanish, social work, theater, and education in graduate school.
Alicante, Spain
A broad range of classes is available in this Mediterranean port city.
Buenos Aires, Argentina

Explore Salamanca, called the City of the Golden Stones for its renowned architecture.
Each semester, fascinating new and different topics courses are offered for in-depth study of a selected topic of interest for Spanish majors and minors! These courses vary each semester. A few examples are:
