Descrição do Programa

Year 3 entry only

Supply chain management is a growing global specialist area and an essential function within organisations, involving many aspects from procurement and logistics through to operations and project management.

This programme is designed for students with a relevant HND to enter at Year 3 and gain an Honours degree. You'll develop your understanding of the complexity of the internal and external connections of international supply chains and gain the tools, techniques and management abilities required for a successful career. You'll also develop your knowledge of the global challenges affecting supply chain process, including economic, legal, financial, strategic and global issues, and their impact on international trade.

Depending on your previous area of study you'll be able to select option modules including project management and digital business and marketing or choose to study a language.

In addition to specialist knowledge, you'll develop your entrepreneurial thinking, your IT skills and the people skills crucial to successfully implementing strategy and change in organisations.

International Student Start Dates

For new international students, orientation events start on 14 September 2018 . This extra time is specifically designed to assist new international students in settling into the UK and GCU prior to the start of general student induction and teaching.

There will be a whole host of fun and informative activities taking place during this period, including campus and city tours, as well as welcome events where you can meet other international students.

Language Option

You can further enhance your skills as a global graduate and widen your career prospects by choosing to study a modern language.

You'll have the option to study modern languages including French, Spanish, German and Italian from beginners to professional level depending on your previous knowledge.

Assessment Methods

Assessments are designed to develop your independent learning while testing your ability to address problems, formulate arguments and analysis issues. A wide range of assessment strategies geared to the content of the modules enable you to develop not just in your written skills and learning but also skills such as data analysis, software applications, presentation and team working.

Assessment methods may vary between modules and include: unseen examinations, class tests, written coursework, presentations and group work.

In addition, case studies are used within assessments so that all learning can be applied to real life.

Teaching Methods

The learning and teaching methods we use are designed to ensure that the programme is both vocationally relevant and academically challenging. Our approach is student-centered, practical, participative and relevant to the needs of both our student and employers. We focus on a more independent learning approach and you will be encouraged to generate and critically evaluate theory and practice.

As well as the traditional lecture, seminar and workshop/practical formats, we adopt a multi-platform approach to learning that includes a wide range of supporting material, including podcasts, webinars (internet-based seminars), discussion boards and independent (including web-based) study. The nature of the classroom setting is a balance between knowledge transfer, interactivity and group activities; with students having the opportunity to contribute to the learning environment.

Classes also include a variety of company case studies, company visits and guest speakers to reflect the current industry, particularly in operations, supply chain management and logistics.

The programme lecturers have links with professional bodies (CIPS, CILT), business networks (Ceed) and personal networks in SCM and logistics, so ensuring that modules reflect contemporary practice.
