The School of Music prepares musicians for professional careers and leadership in music teaching, performance, composition, research, and related fields, offering more than 20-degree programs. The Ph.D. in music education is a research-oriented degree program. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a record of successful teaching in elementary or secondary schools, offer evidence of academic excellence and ongoing scholarly inquiry, and demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research.
