Opis programu

The Master’s Degree in Languages, Literatures and Digital Culture (LM 37) aims to provide students with a highly qualified theoretical and applied formation in two languages and literatures chosen among those taught in the program: English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish. The study of languages and literatures is implemented, for students opting for the Languages and Literatures curriculum, with language teaching skills in a practical approach and, for students opting for the Digital Culture curriculum, with digital labs and project works focussed on digital humanities. In addition to common courses of linguistics, history of the language, foreign and Italian literatures, and philology, training activities include humanistic subjects like extra-European and postcolonial literatures or computer and juridical subjects in respective curricula.

This Master’s Degree qualifies as a highly internationally oriented program opening out to the world and promoting the enrolment of non-Italian speaking students. Common courses are taught in English and literature and language courses are taught in the related languages. Students also have the opportunity to take a binary program for the conferral of a double degree awarded both by the University of Verona and by the University A Coruña (Spain). The course is therefore meant to open up to worldwide cooperation in the fields of formation, research, and cultural enterprise.

The acquired competencies and abilities will be employed in interdisciplinary approaches and with historical and translinguistic perspectives. They will also be applied to the study of critical methodologies and to the use of digital instruments for interpretation, translation, critical analysis of texts in a foreign language, writing texts on an advanced level, scientific argumentation. With the acquisition of these abilities, students will become proficient in two foreign languages, both on the level of contents and on that of critical awareness in intertextual and intercultural contexts, in view of high-level professional opportunities or further developments in the academic field, such as a Ph.D. program.

Quality Assurance

The quality of a degree program is the extent to which it achieves its educational objectives and meets the quality requirements of the educational activities offered, which are determined in line with the needs and expectations of students and representatives of the world of work.

This program has adopted a teaching Quality Assurance system in line with the University’s quality assurance guidelines and based on the e ANVUR national quality assurance guidelines, by carrying out the following activities:

  • periodic consultations with representatives of the world of work to assess the adequacy of the cultural and professional profiles offered in their courses;
  • design of educational contents and planning of resources;
  • organization of educational activities and teaching services;
  • monitoring the effectiveness of teaching and planning measures to improve teaching and services;
  • provision of complete and up-to-date information on its website, relating to the program (professional roles, expected learning outcomes, learning activities).

The above activities are scheduled and interrelated, based on the PDCA principles (Plan, Do, Check, Act).

In a Quality Assurance system, students play a fundamental role: each student can play their part by participating in the Quality Assurance groups of their degree program and in the Faculty-Student Joint Committees or, more simply, by taking part in the Student Survey on teaching, or questionnaires. It’s in this context that specific workshops for student representatives (‘Laboratori di rappresentanza attiva’) are periodically made available to students by the University and the University’s Quality Assurance Board.
