This advanced Master Programme is designed for those with either an IT or a business background. IT people with an engineering background will gain the requisite knowledge in technology management, while executives with a business background will acquire cutting edge proficiency in IT. Our Master of Science Program in Information and Technology Management aims at equipping students with the advanced technical and managerial skills needed to pursue a successful career in the new global, knowledge-based economy.
In our dedicated curriculum, a selected range of courses in information and technology management, data and knowledge management, supply chain management, total quality management, business process re-engineering, project management, enterprise resource planning, and decision making etc. will be offered to our students.
Target Students
Our part-time taught Master Programme is designed for those with either an engineering background, or a business background. This Master Programme is particularly suitable for individuals who are working in organizations where information technology plays a major role in management, operations, or marketing. Graduates are expected to develop a sharp critical thinking and problem solving skills along with the knowledge of latest information technology and management.
Program Duration
Programme is offered in part-time mode. Each academic year is divided into regular trimesters (13 weeks each) and two intensive summer terms. Students can complete the programme within a shortest normative study period of 5 regular trimesters (1.5 years) depending on how many courses they choose to take in each regular trimester and intensive summer term. The maximum period of study is four years.
Admission Requirements
Applicants should satisfy the following general requirements:
- graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor’s degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class; or
- graduated from an honours programme of a recognized university with a Bachelor’s degree, normally achieving an average grade of not lower than “B” in undergraduate courses; or
- completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an honours degree.
Applicants should fulfill the English Language Proficiency Requirements by University before admitted to the programme.
- possess a pass grade in English in one of the following examinations : Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (AS Level), Hong Kong Higher Level Examination, CUHK Matriculation Examination, or
- have a degree from a university in Hong Kong or an English speaking country, or
- submit one of the following scores for assessment by the programme(s) concerned: TOEFL , GMAT (verbal), College English Test (CET) of PRC, IELTS, or
- have obtained a recognized professional qualification awarded in Hong Kong or an English speaking country
In addition to the above minimum admission criteria by University, GMAT is general required for this Programme. GRE is accepted in lieu of GMAT.
- GMAT can be exempted for applicants with seven years' working experience which 5 years are in a managerial position, subject to the approval by the Graduate Division.For applying GMAT exemption, applicant shall complete the GMAT Exemption Form and post back to the MSc in ITM Programme Office with supporting documents.
