Program Overview The Executive MBA (Asia Pacific) Program is targeted at providing high-quality executive education to managers who can take advantage of the opportunities created by the rising integration and networking in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The program is offered in Taipei in cooperation with The College of Management, National Sun Yat-sen University and The College of Management, Chang Gung University. The first class of 49 students was admitted in August 2005.
The program offers a total of 48 units of course work, which covers all critical knowledge for a successful manager. Teaching methods include traditional classroom lectures, case studies, and field studies such as the residential week in Hong Kong and two one-week study tours in China. Courses are taught by the best professors from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and our partners in China and Taiwan.
Program Objectives The EMBA (Asia Pacific) program aims at providing top-quality business education, with the objective of allowing participants to achieve the following:
- A thorough grasp of theory and methodology of contemporary management in order to prepare them for management responsibility at senior executive level.
- New perspectives on management concepts in the Greater China area and abilities to face the challenges and opportunities in the ever changing dynamic business environment.
- Enhanced problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to increase the competitive advantages of their enterprises.
With a balanced emphasis on theory and practice, the program is designed to enhance the participants' analytical and strategic thinking and expose them to the best management practices. Due to the nature of the program, special emphasis will be focused on the development in the integration of the greater China market and management practices.
Curriculum The program consists of 21 courses with a total of 48 units spanning 2 years. One residential week and two field trips are organized for participants during their course of study. The normal period of study is 2 years; the maximum period of study is 4 years.
The program will take a comprehensive mode of teaching. For a 3-unit course, participants gather twice a month for two weekends, which is suitable for executive participants with busy schedules.
Teaching Method
The medium of instruction is Putonghua, the primary language in China. All courses are designed to strike a balance between theory and practice. Apart from lectures, case studies, seminars, computer simulations and projects, participants must undertake two field trips in Hong Kong and mainland China during the course of study.
