Hospitality Management (University of Glouchestershire)
Every year, Vietnam welcomes over 6 million international arrivals and 25 million domestic visitors. Income from the hospitality and tourism industry reaches $US4.5 billion. According to reports in the national training workshop on tourism workforce by 2015, the demand for employees working directly in tourism is more than 500,000 employees, with a growth rate of over 10% a year, of which hotel services accounted for 50% of the labor force. This means that it is needed annually 25,000 hospitality workers, especially skilled labor with professional knowledge and foreign language proficiency.
Foreseeing the needs of the society in the hotel industry, NIIE has associated with the University of Gloucestershire (UK) and Edexcel offering the training program in Hospitality Management. At NIIE, students will be learning in an international learning environment, which facilitates exposure to workplace practices through a network of hotels and leading tourism enterprises cooperating with the Institute.
CURRICULUM
The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be able to work in an international environment in the hotel industry and other service industries which have been currently growing fast such as foreign language skills, communication skills and information processing, management skills and teamwork skills as well as financial skills, etc.
To ensure the quality of the course as well as enabling students to apply their knowledge in practical work involved before working in the hotel industry and tourism, etc., students are required to participate in the 6-month internships. Currently, the NIIE has cooperation with many 5-star hotels in Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand for the purpose of student internship. The training program is divided into 2 stages:
- Stage 1: Edexcel HND (diploma): students will study in two years. Graduates are awarded HND in Hospitality Management by Edexcel.
- Stage 2: University of Gloucestershire (bachelor): HND graduates can continue their higher education to get a bachelor degree in strategic hospitality management from University of Gloucestershire at NIIE. Study duration is one year.

Be employed: HND is recognized worldwide and is preferred by the industry.
Study in the UK, USA, Australia, and Singapore: HND is recognized by these all countries. Students study 1 more year to get a bachelor degree in the U.S. (e.g., Devry University), in Australia (Edith Cowan University).
Study in Vietnam: HND graduates can study 1 more year at NIIE to get the bachelor degree awarded by the University of Gloucestershire (UK) or Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

QUALIFICATION
Graduates are granted bachelor’s degree in Strategic Hospitality Management by the University of Gloucestershire, which is internationally-recognized and have the same rights and privileges as the ones gained by students studying in the UK.
ADMISSION
There are 4 terms a year, enrollment in October, January, April, and July. Admission is based on reviewing applicants’ high school transcripts and English proficiency level. Applicants (without proof of English proficiency) are required to sit for English placement test and may take English courses at NIIE if their English level is less than 4.5 IELTS (or equivalent).
CAREER
Graduates with University of Gloucestershire bachelor degree in strategic hospitality management can take varied senior management positions in the industry, including front office manager, purchasing manager, room service manager, or even top management positions such general manager.
