Our acclaimed Fine Art Program provides a fusion of French, Italian, and Russian academic traditions. The program also combines a solid, substantial foundation of technical skills, critical thinking, and communication skills essential for success in today’s complex art world. During your time at LAAFA, you will build strong technical abilities by studying with our experienced and dedicated instructors and excel exponentially through our sequential curriculum. The goal is to give our emerging artists the confidence to develop their visual language and voice to pursue a lasting career as successful, thought-provoking, professional artists.

The program begins with 18 months of rigorous training in drawing, composition, painting, sculpting, and anatomy to ensure students have the foundational skill set to pursue their artistic expression. Our instructors will work with students to foster their artistic understanding and abilities, helping them master more advanced fine art concepts, skills and nurture their unique voice. LAAFA aims to prepare all students to alter the landscape of artistic expression in today’s contemporary art world.

The Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art (LAAFA) started with the intention to fulfil a need in the community by offering figurative classes that would be taught by professional and skilled artists. In no time, the academy built a strong reputation as a learning institution for foundational training that has expanded in providing accredited BFA Degrees and Atelier Certificates in Fine Art and Entertainment Art. The Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art is recognized as one of the few and premier institutions imparting time-honored skills praised by contemporary figurative and entertainment artists. The Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art remains committed to providing the community with a place of learning where students can pursue their artistic goals and thrive in their art education in our full-time or continuing education programs.

The Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art has an “Institutional Approval” to operate, granted by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE), a division of the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs (www.bppe.ca.gov). In addition, LAAFA’s full-time Degree and Certificate Programs are approved by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).
