Opis programu

Accredited by: ACCA ICAS CIPFA ICAEW CIMA

Accountants play an important role in business, providing key information that underpins the work of decision makers within organizations.

Accredited by the main UK professional accountancy bodies (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, and CIPFA), we focus on practical content and your future employability. Along with all aspects of accountancy, you’ll study topics in economics, law, and management.

Professional accountants prepare financial statements and record business transactions; they also use information systems to track financial performance, participate in mergers and acquisitions and quality management.

Our programme will encourage you to develop a broad, comparative understanding of the practices of accounting and develop an ability to evaluate theories and evidence concerning the effects of accounting on organizations and society. You’ll benefit from using practical accounting packages, our small class sizes and excellent access to staff, as well as a series of guest speakers to enhance your learning.

International Student Start Dates

For new international students, orientation events start on 14 September 2018 . This extra time is specifically designed to assist new international students in settling into the UK and GCU prior to the start of general student induction and teaching.

There will be a whole host of fun and informative activities taking place during this period, including campus and city tours, as well as welcome events where you can meet other international students.

Professional Accreditation

This programme is accredited by the main UK professional accountancy bodies including ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, and CIPFA.

Assessment Methods

As a professionally accredited programme, our approach to learning, teaching, and assessment is tailored to the needs of the profession and the requirements of the professional bodies.

We use a wide range of learning and teaching methods to ensure not only that our students will gain the necessary knowledge and understanding of accountancy but also to develop their intellectual and personal skills.

Teaching Methods

We use a variety of learning and teaching methods to ensure that our programme is both vocationally relevant and academically challenging. Our teaching is supported by a strong record in relevant research, consultancy, and scholarly activity.

All of our modules use GCULearn, the university’s virtual learning environment, which provides course materials, reading resources, assessments, and feedback are all available online. It is also used to enable students to undertake online activities and tasks, listen to podcasts, be involved in online discussion groups, and take part in blogs and Twitter-based learning activities. This approach is blended with more traditional lecture, tutorial and seminar contact. We regularly invite in guest lecturers from industry to show our students the practical relevance of the academic material they are covering.

Our curriculum is designed to promote employability, with our syllabus developed in line with the requirements of professional bodies in order to gain accreditation and subject exemptions.

The programme is also designed to allow graduates access to a wide range of careers within the business and public sectors and within academia.
