Mathematics
In the mathematics department at Erskine, you will develop problem-solving skills and abstract reasoning abilities, which will prepare you for a rapidly changing workplace. Recent graduates from the math program have entered a variety of careers. Some have become teachers, worked in business, served in the armed forces, practiced law, or worked in industry. Others have completed graduate studies in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, and philosophy.
Within the mathematics major, you can choose from three tracks.
- A major in pure mathematics prepares you for graduate-level studies as well as careers in engineering, information science, business, law, and research.
- If you pair the math major with an education minor, you can earn a teaching certification which qualifies you to teach math at the middle- and high-school levels.
- Through Erskine’s partnership with Clemson University, you can complete a dual degree program in finance and actuarial science. Learn more about the Actuarial Science program.
Whether you plan to attend graduate school or enter the workforce, the mathematics department equips you with valuable knowledge and analytical skills to solve real-world problems.
