The International Studies program is an interdisciplinary program that helps students develop their critical reading, writing, research, and problem-solving skills with a curriculum that focuses on historical and contemporary dimensions of complex global issues.

For students who do not wish to or are unable to pursue a major in International Studies, we also offer an International Studies Minor which offers students the opportunity to gain a basic grounding in a rigorous, interdisciplinary approach to international affairs.

The Department of International Studies uses an interdisciplinary framework to explore the historical and contemporary dimensions of complex global issues.

Students in this area develop skills in research and analysis and cultivate a critical awareness of the relationships of power and inequality that shape conflict and development at local and global scales.

Welcome to the Department of International Studies, home to an undergraduate program, a graduate program, and a five year BA/MA program. International Studies is an ever-evolving field which seeks to understand and address international issues in a way which integrates political, social, economic, and cultural methods of analysis.

Our students develop excellent research, writing, and critical thinking skills which prepare them for a wide range of career paths in the public, private and non-profit sectors including the foreign service, humanitarian relief and international development, public policy, international business, social services, journalism, and law.
