This CQI (Chartered Quality Institute) and IRCA certified FD102: Introduction to Problem Solving eLearning course is centred around the concept of using a single A3-size sheet of paper to capture knowledge from each problem-solving activity. This type of problem-solving methodology has been used by many highly successful organisations and can be applied in a range of circumstances. For example, the car manufacturer and multinational corporation, Toyota, use this methodology to train their employees and embed a way of thinking. It is a structured problem-solving approach that has a direct impact on their continuous improvement efforts and success.
The CQI is the only body which offers Chartered Quality Professional status, which is highly valued by employers.
This course will provide you with an understanding of the fundamental tools, techniques and structured methodologies for problem-solving and the capability to participate as a member of a problem-solving team, applying all of the key tools to support the development of robust and sustainable solutions.
Duration of course: Completing all the exercises as designed by reflecting on a real problem as you go, the indicative completion time is 16.5 hours (Broken down into 10 to 15-minute bite-size learnings). The system tracks your progress, so the next time you log in, you simply pick up from where you left off.
Structure: 4 modules, including real-life rail sector manufacturing example, knowledge assessments, three exercises with tutor feedback + final assessment on completion.

Assessment: 40 multiple choice questions assessment at the end of the course (75% pass mark)

Outcome
This Practical Problem Solving course will provide you with an understanding of the skills required to apply the A3 process effectively in the workplace. At the end of the course you will know how to describe a problem, its nature, scope and impact, understand how and when to use the Seven Quality Tools and the importance of visual management techniques to expose abnormalities against a standard or plan.
On completion of the course, you will gain a Chartered Quality Institute & IRCA endorsed certificate FD102 Introduction to Problem Solving. You will feel confident to participate in team-based problem-solving efforts within your organisation.
