Mechanical engineers make the world go round. These out-of-box thinkers are at the heart of the engineering, manufacturing, transportation and electronics industries, ensuring that products and systems perform as intended. When a mechanical engineer solves an engineering challenge, they are not only fulfilling the role of innovator. They are working to make the world an easier, safer and smarter place.
In a field that prides itself on pushing the boundaries of technology, an engineer’s worth is measured by their ability to adapt at the same pace as their industry. Engineering professionals, regardless of their level of experience, must keep up with emerging fields, trends and technologies. To help mechanical engineers remain at the forefront of an ever-changing landscape, The University of Texas at Austin and the Cockrell School of Engineering are proud to offer two 100% online engineering programs: the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and the Mechanical Engineering Controls Graduate Certificate.
Ranked among the top engineering programs in the country, our 30-credit-hour, non-thesis Executive MS in Mechanical Engineering program provides a first-rate education to engineering professionals around the globe. Master’s degree students explore a broad range of engineering topics, learning how to utilize emerging technology to design, produce and analyze products and design processes. Entirely online, our master’s degree program is no less exemplary than its on-campus equivalent, proving that anyone, anywhere can become a part of Texas Engineering.
Our 9-credit-hour Mechanical Engineering Controls Graduate Certificate program, by contrast, takes an in-depth look at critical competencies engineers need to compete and be successful in the industry. Designed primarily for working mechanical and petroleum engineers who deal with the control and optimization of processes and systems, participants can earn this affordable graduate credential in as little as one year.
Over the course of these 100% online programs, students are empowered to master current engineering topics, advance their careers and change the world — one engineering innovation at a time.
The Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin has been introducing world-changing solutions and educating pioneers in the field of engineering for over a century. With 8,000 students and over 70,000 alumni, the Cockrell School boasts one of the largest and most respected engineering communities in the country.
Our faculty boasts some of the nation’s most accomplished industry leaders and innovators, including four National Medal winners and one Nobel prize winner. UT Engineering students are instructed by a world-renowned team of over 270 faculty members, including:
Under the guidance of esteemed faculty members and supportive academic advisors, students are given the intellectual, technological and communication tools needed to change not only their lives but the world around them. At UT Austin, engineering the box starts with learning to think outside of it.
