Our MSc Corporate Financial Management degree has been designed for those interested in a future career in banking, personal and corporate finance or as an accountant. It offers an excellent foundation for your career or for further study. We want to ensure that our courses give you the best possible chance of achieving your career ambitions, which is why we have built useful projects and strategies into the programme. As well as gaining a formal qualification, this course allows you to develop sought-after transferable skills and build a skills portfolio that you can show to future employers.
We are focused on the student learning experience and want to ensure that our graduates are career-ready, with the knowledge, skills and attributes that employers demand. Our teaching staff have extensive practical experience, and you will be taught in small group sizes that encourage a good learning relationship with lecturers.
Placement Year
Choose to study the optional Placement Year for the opportunity to gain significant practical skills and elevate your career. Employers are looking for graduates with a business-ready mindset; this entails an understanding of business ethics and values, self-awareness, mental flexibility and openness, resilience, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
So how does it work?
Having completed the first year of studies, the second year will be spent on placement in employment. Whilst you will be responsible for finding your own placement, you will be fully supported by a Placement Tutor and our dedicated Business Employability Team. Throughout the year, you will receive monthly coaching from a Placement Tutor to help accelerate skills development and self-awareness within a work environment, complementing the knowledge gained from our academic courses, for a minimum of 30 weeks. You will be given the opportunity to transfer to the placement version of your MSc within a period during your first year of studies.
Our placement year courses are open to everyone including international students, who can contact our International Office for specific advice and guidance.
Should you be unable to complete the full programme, you may still be awarded a Diploma or Certificate depending on the terms completed.

With a firm focus on practical learning, our Business School aims to make students employable and ready to succeed in the workplace. We pride ourselves on creating the right learning environment for you to achieve your business aspirations. Our approach to teaching is student-led. Our lecturers are engaging academics who combine their passion for business, wealth of industry knowledge and professional business links, to benefit your learning both in and outside of the classroom environment.
Employability is at the heart of everything we do at the Business School. Our employability team will provide you with one-to-one advice on how to successfully engage with business contacts from major UK recruiters such as IBM, Lloyds of London and Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC), who you will meet through events, workshops and visits to organisations, enabling you to see first-hand how business operates in the real world. We run events throughout the year including guest speakers, panel discussions, masterclasses and competitions. The support you’ll receive, led and informed by employer practice, will maximise your ability to submit successful job applications, secure internships and hone your interview skills.
