Master of Science - Educazione Speciale per l'Infanzia

The M.S. in Childhood Special Education (Grades 1-6) provides a pathway for initial /professional certification in Special Education in New York State. This degree is designed for candidates who are career changers and candidates who possess initial certification in Early Childhood Education and/or Childhood Education. Having completed the program, graduates will be positioned to advocate as teachers in schools and other forums for learners with special needs while also engaging in research-based instruction.

The SUNY Old Westbury School of Education offers academic programs offering bachelor's and master's degrees and meeting both the State of New York's initial and professional certification requirements. The New York State Education Department approves our programs, and we are proud members of the American Association of Quality Educator Preparation, anticipating AAQEP Accreditation in early 2022.

The Old Westbury degree programs provide professional courses and extensive field experience, including student teaching. All courses are designed to achieve competencies identified by local school district personnel and prescribed by the New York State Education Department.
