Costume performance is a newly emerging university discipline in China, and it is also a discipline unique to my country. With the rapid development of the clothing industry and the continuous improvement of cultural connotations in the display of clothing, the model industry has also been given new criteria for judgment. "Models" can no longer be just "props" for displaying costumes, but should be a group of professional and skilled talents with academic qualifications, culture, and accomplishment, and the requirements for the major in costume performance are getting higher and higher.

Employment direction: universities, technical colleges, training institutions, social organizations and scientific research institutions are engaged in teaching and research related to performances. Engage in performance-related organization, choreography, planning management and other technical work in a brokerage company or enterprise. Planning, performance and editing of media and fashion magazines; related work of media organizations, radio stations, television stations, and news media.

首都体育学院is the only higher physical education college in Beijing. In 1960, it was transformed into Beijing Normal University of Physical Education. In 1962, it was merged into Beijing Normal University. In 1979, the Beijing Normal University of Physical Education was restored. In 2000, it was renamed the首都体育学院. In 2020, according to the classified development plan of Beijing's public universities, our school was identified as a "high-level characteristic university".

The school has 8 teaching units, including the School of Physical Education and Training, the School of Sports Science and Health, the School of Martial Arts and Performance, the School of Management and Communication, the School of Leisure and Social Sports, the School of Continuing Education, the School of International Education, and the School of Marxism, as well as sports labor. Two directly affiliated research institutions, including the Intelligent Research Institute and the Sports-Medical Fusion Innovation Center.
