Il Master in Educazione di Elon

Elon’s newly structured 33-hour M.Ed . program with an emphasis in I nnovation in Education is part-time and designed for teachers who are graduates of accredited institutions and initially licensed to teach. The program has both face-to-face and online/hybrid courses.

Our program has been designed to disrupt practitioners’ traditional concepts of schooling and move teachers toward more progressive visions and praxis.

Candidates are:

introduced to a range of progressive student-centered pedagogies such as project-based learning and place-based education asked to reimagine education within a constructivist framework, allowing for equitable learning opportunities that are respectful and responsive of students’ backgrounds, and offered opportunities to experiment in their own practice with innovative pedagogies.

Elon is a selective, mid-sized private university renowned as a national model for engaged and experiential learning. Students work closely with faculty who are dedicated to excellent teaching and scholarship. The curriculum is grounded in the traditional liberal arts and sciences and complemented by nationally accredited professional and graduate programs.

Before Elon

The Alamance County area was first inhabited by Siouan-speaking Native American tribes, with the Occaneechi being the most dominant by 1650. European explorers were in the region in the late 1600s and the first land titles were claimed by the English. The state of North Carolina deeded property in this area to surveyor Hugh Mulhollan in 1818. In 1889 several Alamance County mill owners and farmers gave or sold parcels of land for the site of a new educational institution named Elon to take the place of the nearby Graham College.
