Industrial-Organizational (I-O) psychology is the scientific study and the application of science to workplace issues. From organizational consulting firms to multinational corporations, your expertise will be called on for organizational development, talent management, human resources research, employee evaluation and much more. Social Sciences

Our faculty and students work with inmates, help homeless families find housing, provide mental health care, and improve the work environments of organizations, and prepare future community leaders. They do so together with the help of our community partners and agencies. Learning occurs in the real world and is often indistinguishable from service. With Magis as a foundational value – our students aspire to achieve more – for and with others.

Health

High quality, affordable, and effective health care are topics of increasing concern in our society. Current challenges in this field include infant mortality, the opioid epidemic, affordable care, long-term care, health analytics, and health policy, among others. Our Health programs are preparing future thought leaders and direct service providers for this industry-in-flux. Today, approximately half of all students in the college and a quarter of all students at Xavier University are majoring in the health professions. We have a strong reputation for preparing health leaders, nurses, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, health analysts, and imaging technicians and have launched several new and innovative programs to meet the employment demands of this rapidly changing industry. We’ve developed a strong national reputation for interprofessional education and collaboration – a pillar of the new perspective on health known as Population Health.
