People who can both design and prototype interactive technology are in high demand within the creative industries. There are many opportunities that span from web and user experience work, all the way through to corporate research and development, marketing and branding, museum and galleries, E-Commerce, gaming, simulation, virtual production, and extended reality (XR) - these are just some of the sectors you might choose to enter with a Creative Computing degree.

According to the World Economic Forum, “We stand on the brink of a technological revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another”. The emergence of digital technology and its impact on the creative economy is having a disruptive effect on society. These changes make an urgent call for the development of professionals with “createch” skills, able to effortlessly blend creative and technical proficiency in solving real-world problems.

This programme has been designed to develop professionals equipped with the skills and the confidence to use computing technology as a creative and expressive medium.

Over the course of three years, you will develop into a digital maker, equipped with creative problem-solving skills and an in-depth understanding of well-established and emergent technologies.

You will:

  • use computing technology as a creative and expressive medium to solve real-world problems
  • develop your understanding of the key debates and future directions of computing technology
  • develop entrepreneurial and managerial skills, working in multidisciplinary teams
  • have opportunities to engage with leading creative computing industries in collaborative projects and briefs
  • develop your professional identity, network and community

Teaching is supplemented with work placements, internships, live projects or field trips so students can put their learning into practice.

A campus-based university, Salford boasts an exciting location, just minutes away from Manchester city centre, which is known for its vibrant cultural arts scene, international food and world-class sports.

The campuses provide students with an outstanding learning experience and the chance to use industry-standard facilities to reflect the workplace. The main campus features the beautiful Peel Park where students can relax in between lectures or walk next to the river.

The University of Salford also has a high-tech campus at MediaCity next to the BBC and ITV and amongst over 200 digital and media companies.

Attractive scholarships are offered to support international students with paying fees, as well as options for paying fees across 5 or 7 monthly instalments.

The University of Salford currently has over 4,000 international students who make up part of the total student body of 23,000. The community is very friendly and multicultural, and everyone is welcome no matter their background, religion, or beliefs.

The University of Salford also offers specialist careers support for international students which can be accessed free of charge and for a lifetime. The support includes how to find a job, interview and CV techniques, guidance on workplace etiquette in the UK, and advice about visas.
