The Radiography cooperative program between JFK Muhlenberg Snyder School of Radiography and Union County College offers the advantage of a hospital-based radiography program coupled with college-based academic courses.
The degree earned (Diploma in Radiography and an Associate in Science) enables graduates to transfer credits toward a bachelor's degree or a radiologic technology speciality if desired.
Clinical competency is an integral component of the program; however, before students work with patients, they must complete several simulated laboratory sessions that correspond directly to classroom lessons. Clinical rotations are conducted at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ, and other hospitals and several satellite facilities in New Jersey.
The Radiography Program:
Day/Full Time – Six semesters of professional courses (two years)
Requires High School Diploma or GED/Adult Diploma
Total of 80 Credits (39 General Education credits/41 Radiography credits) for Advanced Standing
Diploma in Radiography from JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools and an AS Degree from Union County College awarded upon graduation
Graduates are eligible to complete the ARRT National Board Registry Examination in Radiography
Advanced Standing/Credits evaluated up to 36 transfer credits for comparable course credit with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher is required.
Biology courses for transfer must be taken within the last 5 years;
Physics courses must be taken within the last 10 years.
General Education courses are taken at Union County College - Cranford, Elizabeth, or Plainfield campuses. The radiography technology courses are taught at JFK Muhlenberg Harold B. and Dorothy A. Snyder Schools' campus and various other clinical sites and affiliations.
