Description du programme

About

To be prepared for graduate school, professional school, or direct employment in the chemical industry, you need a thorough grounding in the major fields of modern chemistry. As a chemistry major at LMU, you'll study all the major areas of chemistry: organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, and biochemistry. Along the way, you'll get experience--both in the lab and the library as you develop your own research projects and in the real world through internships.

Degree Offered

Bachelor of Science

Four Year Plans

  • Chemistry
  • Chemistry Pre-Pharmacy/Pre-Medical
  • Chemistry Education Track
  • Chemical Physics
  • Chemical Physics Education Track

Special Features

LMU offers a unique opportunity for students seeking to enter the medical profession. After successful completion of the Pre-Med track, graduates are guaranteed an interview with LMU's DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. This is a special opportunity for international students who are normally not able to enter U.S medical schools because of long waiting lists.

In their final year of study, LMU students have the opportunity for internships in local industries and government agencies.

All chemistry majors plan and conduct independent research on a topic of their choice.

In addition, LMU offers chemistry majors a pre-pharmacy track, which allows students to focus on chemistry while getting the necessary foundations in biology they'll need for pharmacy school. Qualified LMU students then have priority access to the University of Appalachia's School of Pharmacy.

LMU's "three plus three" program permits prospective students to start their pharmacy program at LMU and complete a doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree at the University of Appalachia in an abbreviated timeframe.

In addition, Lincoln Memorial University has been ranked as the safest college campus. Please see the following-

Alumni Success

Along with working in various industries, LMU grads are doing advanced research in Graduate and Professional Programs at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and attending dental schools such as the University of Kentucky Dental School.

Departmental Awards

LMU chemistry majors have recently been named ACA NSF Robert Noyce Scholars by the Appalachian College Association and the National Science Foundation.

Several LMU students have won the Undergraduate Senior Award given by the East Tennessee Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) to outstanding graduating seniors.

Informations sur l'Université

Our nation's beloved 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, was a native of neighboring Kentucky. But you might not know that he envisioned "a great university for the people of this area" here in the Cumberland Gap. One hundred forty years later, Lincoln Memorial University is the heir of that vision, and we are very proud to wear his name and embrace his legacy.

Nestled in the pristine Appalachian Mountain range, LMU's main campus in Harrogate, Tennessee, is both scenic and historic. About 55 miles north of Knoxville, Tennessee, we're perfectly poised to offer a liberal arts education. A main campus full of activities for residential students and 11 extended sites in surrounding areas, LMU provides educational experiences to suit your life. With over 30 academic majors ranging from accounting to wildlife and fisheries biology, success is within your reach.
