From the clean food movement to the restored interest in houseplants and backyard gardening, the future looks bright for those interested in horticulture.
If you have a green thumb, are interested in the science of nature and the art of growing things, or enjoy working outdoors, then horticulture is the career path for you.
The Horticulture curricula include courses about plant identification, pest management, plant science, and soil science. Also included are courses in sustainable plant production and management, landscaping, and the operation of horticulture businesses. Students will receive classroom instruction and practical hands-on laboratory applications of horticulture principles. They will experience applied to learn in an on-campus greenhouse and work with equipment and machinery essential to the horticulture profession today.

Blue Ridge Community College is a two-year, comprehensive post-secondary institution located in the mountains of western North Carolina. It serves Henderson and Transylvania counties.
