Description du programme

Arkansas Northeastern College offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing. The Arkansas State Board approves the registered nursing program of Nursing. One traditional class is admitted annually in the fall semester, with the LPN to RN Students accepted into the program joining the class in January of the Spring Semester each year. Throughout the program, general education courses and nursing courses are combined with client care in clinical settings in hospitals and health care agencies in the area. The nursing courses integrate the nursing process, communication skills, nutrition, pharmacology, and drug administration in the care of clients. Legal/ethical responsibilities and current trends in health care are also integrated. The nursing courses are competency-based, and students are responsible for achieving certain competencies under specified conditions.

Students will be required to complete standardized tests throughout the nursing curriculum and to earn acceptable scores on such examinations to progress through the curriculum. Students will be required to earn a satisfactory score on a comprehensive exam in the last semester of the nursing curriculum. Upon completing the program, the student is granted the Associate in Applied Science Degree and may be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse. Persons convicted of a crime may not be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN for licensure. See the program director for details.

Admission to Arkansas Northeastern College is not automatic admission to the nursing program. Traditional Students and LPN to RN students must score 100 or greater on the PAX-RN Exam, have a minimum grade point average of 2.0, and complete all pre-requisite courses to meet minimal admission requirements. A grade of “C” or above is required in all academic courses required for the nursing degree. The Nursing Department has a selective admission policy and criteria. Students are referred to the Associate Degree Nursing Information Guidelines or should contact the Nursing and Allied Health Advising Specialist concerning admission, selection criteria, and graduation requirements.
