This course combines a foundation year followed by a full undergraduate qualification. During your first year, you’ll gain the background needed to succeed at university, reviewing topics such as mathematics, IT, research, and academic study skills. You’ll then learn the ins and outs of contemporary criminology with a specialised focus on cybercrime, preparing you for a rewarding career in a thriving sector.
The increasing demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals in the UK has resulted in a growing skills gap in the sector. This course has been designed with a clear applied, digital-first, and modern focus to help you gain the cutting-edge skills needed to fill these industry gaps. It covers all the essentials of criminology with a focus on cybercrime and security across the UK and globally, ensuring the skills you gain are applicable worldwide. You’ll graduate from the course prepared for a potential career in policing, probation, fraud prevention, counter-terrorism, cybercrime prevention, digital forensics, and more.
The course is led by practitioners and lecturers with a wealth of experience in their respective fields. That means your learning material will cover all the latest developments in criminology and cybercrime, ensuring you graduate with employability skills that meet the current and future demands of this rapidly growing sector. You’ll also have the chance to hear from guest speakers such as cybersecurity experts and reformed ex-offenders, helping you gain real-world insight and start developing industry links even before you graduate.
This course shares the same level 4 modules as our BA (Hons) Criminology. After completing level 4 of your course, you’ll have the option to switch over to this pathway if it better suits your interests and career goals.
In line with most other criminology courses offered by UK universities, this course is not accredited by a professional body. The course stands out in that the topics you’ll study have a global focus that you can apply to careers both in your home country and abroad.
