Master in Pharmacology
China pharmaceutical university has one of the earliest doctoral programs of pharmacology in China. The post-graduates program for master degree started as early as 1982, and that for Ph.D. degree started in 1990. It was evaluated as the key discipline of Jiangsu Province and State Key Training program in 2005, then the state second-class key discipline in 2007. Now the department has an experienced and creative team of faculty and staffs including 3 professors, 6 associated professors, and 4 instructors, among which 12 people have the Ph.D. or master degrees.
The department also carried out various courses in the undergraduate including Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Drug Toxicology, Experimental Pharmacology, Food Toxicology, a Medical basis for pharmacy, Advancement in modern pharmacology, English in Pharmaceutics. Among these courses, Pharmacology has been evaluated as an excellent course of Jiangsu colleges and university, Experiment Pharmacology is lined as experimental bilingual demo lecture of Nation Education Ministry, and Cell Biology is assessed as a school-level excellent course. During recent 5 years, the crew has participated in a complement of almost thirty teaching materials and professional books. The book 《Pharmacology》is not only lined as "Eleventh Five-Year" National Planning materials of higher education but also is awarded the second prize of national pharmaceutical excellent teaching materials in 2006, as well as excellent teaching materials of Jiangsu in 2007.
In specific research, our department research focuses on the development of neuroprotective drugs, cardiovascular drugs endocrine disease drugs, geriatrics drugs and anticancer drugs. To study the biological activity of drugs at cellular, molecular and genetic levels, our research concentrates on the molecular mechanisms of the drug actions in the human body, with the receptors and enzymes as the key point. In drug research and development area, we give full play to the role of pharmacology, and the primary aim is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the drug candidates.
Endeavoring to make progress in molecular and cellular pharmacology, we will make a deeper concept in understanding the pathogenesis, which will be a benefit for disease prevention and treatment. To achieve these goals, we will establish and gradually modify our education and research systems to meet the international standards.
Currently, our department has conducted a number of on-going major research projects, including two ‘significant new drugs creation’ funded by the Ministry of National Science and Technology, one ‘National Natural Science Funds’, one ‘Doctoral Fund’ from Ministry of National Education, one ‘Chinese medicine industry-specific Fund’, one ‘National Science & Technology Pillar Program’, and two ‘National Practical Innovation Project for undergraduates’.
We recruit more than 30 master and Ph.D. students each year, and there are more than 10 papers published in SCI journals. You are more than welcome to learn more about our department by visiting our website.
