American Indian College (AIC) was originally founded in 1957 by missionary Alta Washburn who saw the great need to prepare Native Americans for church ministry. During its years of development, AIC successfully added an Associates degree in Business and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. In 2016, AIC partnered with Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU), Waxahachie, Texas, becoming SAGU AIC.
SAGU AIC is our nation's only Christian college campus serving primarily Native American students. The administration, faculty, and staff of AIC are passionate about equipping a new generation of leaders. SAGU AIC is committed to the academic, professional, and spiritual development of every student.
Today SAGU AIC alumni include pastors, educators, business professionals, tribal leaders and others who are bringing positive change to their communities. SAGU AIC’s history is one of passionate vision, cooperative efforts, ministry and missions effectiveness, and academic growth to accommodate its institutional purpose.
