The Associate of Arts in Health Science at Acupuncture and Massage College is a program for students who wish to pursue a career in massage therapy and complete a degree program that qualifies them for further study at the baccalaureate level. The Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree at AMC is two academic years in length. In addition to required general education courses, which meet the general education admissions requirement for AMC’s Master degree in Oriental Medicine, students learn various massage therapy techniques that prepare them to take state and/or national licensing exams to become Licensed Massage Therapists (LMT). More than 80 per cent of the bodywork classes at AMC teach a form of Asian Bodywork, enabling our successful graduates to earn a living practising Shiatsu massage.

Acupuncture and Massage College was originally founded in 1983 as the Acupuncture-Acupressure Institute (AIA), as was the first acupuncture school in Florida.

In 2000, the Acupuncture-Acupressure Institute was granted program accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). That same year, AIA changed its name to the Southeast Institute of Oriental Medicine (SEIOM), to reflect a broader commitment to the study of Oriental Medicine. In 2003, SEIOM was granted national-accreditation by Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), the institution’s name was changed to Acupuncture and Massage College.
