Japan-Global Development program (JGDP) is a newly established two-year master’s program to provide students the opportunity to learn universal development and growth logic in the fields of politics, economy and management, using Japan’s experiences in economic development and corporate growth as basic case materials. The Department of International Politics provides two courses. The first is the Foreign Affairs/Security Course, in which students can learn about international politics through such fields as international security, area studies, history of foreign affairs, and international law. The second is the Global Governance Course, which aims to nurture individuals who can succeed in the international arena and are equipped with the knowledge to address global issues, such as the global environment. For the Foreign Affairs/Security Course, students are instructed by a wide variety of faculty, such as those who have gained work experience, researchers, and theorists. For the Global Governance Course, there are numerous courses on topics such as international systems, international organizations, the global environment, and NGOs, as well as courses on the relationship between international politics and international finance and trade.

The Department of International Law aims to allow students to acquire the ability to succeed in international society, and at the same time, to exert such ability in local communities by effectively introducing an international perspective.

A major theme of work of the Faculty is "symbiosis" between people of different cultures, ideologies, and languages by deepening exchange with people from all over the world as globalization gathers pace in the world of the 21st century.

The School of International and Area Studies strives to provide students with the ability to analyze and understand the complex structures of the world’s various regions, and to nurture human resources that can consider problems from a global perspective, and provide practical abilities towards a solution.

This program accepts students who have obtained a master’s degree or the equivalent in various fields. The program encompasses the Department of Global Ecology, the Department of Technology and Ecology, and the Department of Natural Resources of the Hall of Global Environmental Research, as well as the Grove of Universal Learning. The general purpose of the major is to address these and other similar important issues in a multidisciplinary way, and, simultaneously, to expose students to think critically and reason analytically about the constantly evolving political landscape in Asia compared to the rest of the world.

The Department of English Studies aims to help students develop the kind of English skills immediately useful to new working members of society by guiding them through their studies toward their future careers with the following three courses available from the second year of study: Language Studies, Business, and Education. The Department of Global Liberal Arts aims to help students systematically develop their interests into expertise by offering the following three courses of American Studies, Japan and Asian Studies, and European Studies, each of which also comprises three specialized research areas. The Faculty also offers practical learning opportunities through not only a rich variety of study abroad programs but also opportunities to conduct fieldwork internationally in six countries or regions across the U.S., Asia, and Europe. Graduates of Tama University School of Global Studies earn a Bachelor of Art (B.A.) degree in global studies. Within this field of study, students specialize in one of two academic tracks: hospitality management or international studies.
