Studio Angelico is Siena Heights University’s nationally accredited art department, offering degrees in Graphic Design, Art History, and Fine Arts. Students in Southeastern's Art program learn the skills necessary to build a career in an art-related industry. Featuring outstanding ceramics, photography, and sculpture labs, the Art program produces successful artists, filmmakers, photographers, and other art-industry professionals.
MASTER OF DESIGN: DESIGN INNOVATION(MDES) Emphasizing four key skill areas (empathy, analysis, contextual understanding, and communication), the curriculum is designed to teach students how to effectively define and solve a problem, and to impart critical leadership skills for mobilizing and motivating teams toward successful outcomes. Our interdisciplinary approach trains students to identify underlying problems, develop actionable solutions, and make strategic business decisions within the context of real-world economic, social, and environmental challenges. In addition to its core MassArt faculty, the Design Innovation program hosts a leading group of talented and pioneering professionals each semester as visiting lecturers. Classes are co-taught by design and business professors in a fully integrated, collaborative teaching model.

The art & design program offers a variety of foundational art courses students can take to fulfill electives or a minor in art. A minor in art provides students of all majors the opportunity to integrate visual literacy, critical thinking, and creative problem solving with other academic and research interests. Composed of 18 credit hours, the minor focuses on courses that develop a student's aesthetic, theoretical, and experiential skills while expanding their intellectual knowledge, individual expressivity, and global perspective of the visual arts.
The MFA program offers six areas of specialization: Ceramics, Interdisciplinary Studio, New Genres, Painting and Drawing, Photography, and Sculpture. These studio areas are supplemented by seminars and lectures in contemporary critical theory. The program emphasizes the development of a sustained artistic practice through exploration, experimentation, and intensive studio work and study.
