Humber’s Bachelor of Social Science – Criminal Justice Honours Degree provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system, approaches to analyzing global issues and opportunities to evaluate societal and individual responses to crime. Supported by a faculty team with diverse researching and in-field experience, the curriculum combines both theory and applied practice to provide an interdisciplinary experience for learners. Emphasis is placed on exploring mechanisms of systemic discrimination as they relate to the criminal justice system and the experiences of marginalized groups. The Bachelor of Applied Arts in Justice Studies takes your career in the justice system full circle. The first two years of this four-year degree program are completed by taking either the Correctional Studies, Criminal Justice – Policing, or Child and Youth Care diploma or through an accepted transfer program.

The Bachelor of Applied Arts in Criminal Justice prepares students for work in various sectors of the criminal justice system through practical training and a liberal arts education. Offered in conjunction with the New Brunswick Community College-Miramichi, the Bachelor of Applied Arts in Criminal Justice is a four-year articulated program that prepares entry-level practitioners to work in sectors of the criminal justice system such as community correctional practice and public safety. The first two years are offered at NBCC-Miramichi where students earn a diploma in Criminal Justice. The third and fourth years of the program are offered by St. Thomas, where compulsory courses further develop theoretical and conceptual understanding of the Canadian criminal justice system and a more concentrated academic focus in the liberal arts. Upon completion of the second stage of the program, students are awarded a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Criminal Justice.
