The Master's Program in Japanese Literature and Calligraphic Culture has a curriculum combining literature, the voice of the spirit, and calligraphy, the graphical expression of the spirit. The program develops practical researchers and research-oriented practitioners who can play a leading role in responding to an era of spirituality, internationalization, and lifelong learning.

Established with the aim of fostering human resources with advanced knowledge and skills in the fields of art and design, the Master's Degree Program was the first to be officially approved at a private art university in Japan in 1964. International Liberal Arts is foundational at SILA and permeates every aspect of the curriculum. Liberal arts colleges, though global in scope, are small in scale. We are a learning community where classes are small and the relationship between teachers and students is close. With the exception of Japanese Expression, Career Design, and some classes in the Teacher Certificate program, all the classes are taught in English. The educational curriculum of Miyazaki International College consists of General Education Courses, Language Courses, Study Abroad Courses, Specialized Courses, Career Education Courses, Senior Thesis and Optional Courses. The Japanese word for "sculpture", chokoku, contains the spatial concept of "cho" (or "horu": to carve) and the temporal idea of "koku" (or "kizamu": to chop). Just as old as mankind, the art of the sculpture is still being succeeded by artists around the world who keep exploring its possibilities day by day. In other words, a sculpture is a monument of space and time that continues endlessly from the past to the present and further into the future. Returning time and again to the fundamental question, "What is sculpture?", we need to keep searching for the meaning of art unconstrained by trends and customs, based on the history of all kinds of arts and techniques. The Department of Sculpture aims to foster individuals who challenge new and timeless artistic possibilities through theoretical and practical work in an ample production environment.

KIU offers a 2-year degree in the liberal arts department that has two distinctive. First, the program is comprised of a broad balanced study of natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Students will develop practical applied learning skills in this program. The second distinctive is the Japanese emphasis. Living in Japan, a foreigner has a great opportunity to learn the Japanese language, about the culture, history, and politics. KIU will teach students these subjects and broaden the students' horizons and international potential upon degree completion. Non-Japanese students will attain a certain level of Japanese proficiency and be able to use acquired knowledge and skills in cross-cultural settings with confidence.

In Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets, students will study images, objects, and preservation science, gaining specialized knowledge and skills. The goal is to train people who will be able to preserve objects of historical importance.

The Graduate School of Humanities aims to help students explore traditional Japanese culture in a comprehensive and systematic way. By investigating the tangible and intangible aspects of the national culture, students can become highly qualified experts in their chosen field and effective interdisciplinary researchers.

Based on the standardized Medical Education Model Core Curriculum, students work in small group tutorials using patient models to acquire necessary medical knowledge about organs and systems and incorporate it into their clinical knowledge. After learning the introductory knowledge of medicine during the 1st year, students will learn basic and social medicine during the 2nd and 3rd year, basic clinical skills such as simulated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, medical interviewing, and other techniques used in clinical practice until the end of 4th year. By the end of the 4th year, students take national achievement examinations, Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE), to evaluate their general medical knowledge and clinical skills, and receive a provisional license as a student doctor (clinical training license). During the 1st and 2nd semesters of the 5th year, students participate actively in a clinical clerkship, rotating through all clinical departments. During the 3rd semester of the 5th year and the 1st semester of the 6th year, students may choose electives among various clinical departments and from off-campus clinical facilities, 3 nearby universities and their affiliated hospitals, or overseas facilities.
