Program Description

The Master of Arts in Educational Leadership is designed to prepare experienced educators for leadership positions in their schools and communities. Leadership, communication, curriculum, assessment, teacher evaluation, and the use of technology will be taught by way of active student participation.

The State of New Mexico Administrator Competencies and the Professional Standards for Education Leaders 2015 will be emphasized to capture the essential aspects of leadership at both the state and national levels.

Specific admissions and matriculation requirements are available through the university catalog and students are encouraged to carefully read all documentation.

Student Learning Outcomes

  • Collaboratively evaluate, develop, and communicate a school mission and vision, using this to lead improvement processes.
  • Model ethical and professional norms.
  • Evaluates, cultivates and advocates for equitable, inclusive and culturally responsive instruction and behavior support practices.
  • Evaluate, develops, and implements high-quality, technology-rich curricula programs and other supports for academic and non-academic student programs, addressing the needs of a culturally and linguistically diverse student population.
  • Collaboratively engage and cultivate relationships with diverse community members, partners, and other constituencies for the benefit of school improvement and student development.
  • Evaluate, develop, and advocate for data-informed and equitable resourcing planning, school-level governance, and operation systems, and implement laws, rights, policies and regulations that support school improvement and promote student development.
  • Build professional capacity with in the school and community

Demographics

  • More than 3,500 students attend our campuses and are enrolled online.
  • 50% of our undergrads are Hispanic, and we are designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution.
