Program Description

The Bachelor's Degree in Water Resources provides a specific training, but with an integrative and interdisciplinary approach where all relevant aspects of integrated water resource management are considered. The student, upon completing this degree, must have acquired a series of knowledge, skills, and competencies that will allow them to develop with quality and competitiveness in the professional field. The specific knowledge to be acquired by the student includes:

  • Understanding the physical, chemical, geological, and biological principles that govern the flows of matter and energy in the hydrological cycle.
  • Acquiring the necessary skills for field and laboratory work, and the application of basic analytical and instrumental techniques in the study of water characteristics and the aquatic environment.
  • Evaluating the demands and availabilities of water resources based on different uses: human consumption, industry, agriculture, energy.
  • Knowing the treatment, purification, and regeneration technologies of water and their physical, chemical, and biological foundations, and identifying the most suitable ones based on the characteristics of the influent and the required quality of the effluent.
  • Applying procedures and tools in solving problems related to the aquatic environment and its management.
  • Identifying and proposing protection and recovery measures for continental water bodies and aquatic systems, tailored to their environmental status.
  • Acquiring integrated training to plan, develop and coordinate projects related to the aquatic environment with a multidisciplinary approach.

Admission Requirements

Access Access to the official Bachelor's degree programs will require possession of a high school diploma or equivalent and passing the test referred to in Article 42 of Organic Law 6/2001 on Universities, amended by Law 4/2007 of April 12, without prejudice to other access mechanisms provided by current regulations. The number of places offered for new admissions is:

  • Móstoles Campus: 40 places

  • Consulting in water and environment: water sustainability of ecosystems, assessment and remediation of water impacts.

  • Independent professional practice.
  • Research and technological development centers in water resource management and treatment projects.
