Program Description

The study of History seeks a rational and critical understanding of the past of humanity in order to better comprehend the present and make it understandable to others, as it allows us to unravel the relationship that exists between past events and processes and present problems.

Likewise, historical science contributes to cohesion within the community and generates civic awareness and appreciation for the past and its historical, cultural, artistic, and archaeological heritage, while also serving to recognize the complexity and diversity of societies, cultures, and systems of human values, and therefore, to the development of attitudes of tolerance and respect towards the different viewpoints that arise from various historical and cultural traditions.

The academic field is not limited at all to the teaching tasks of its members, but increasingly, universities are being called upon for their active participation in research and development (R&D). An increasingly notable percentage of the budget allocated to funding public universities will be linked to various research projects. It is significant the role that the field of research can play in the request for a degree in History, the growing demand for graduates in History who wish to continue and complete their education by enrolling in Third Cycle studies or in University Master's programs, with the aim of carrying out their doctoral thesis.
