Program Description

The master's in Organizational Communication and Digital Innovation is a university training in the Communication department divided into the Communication des organizations. Composed of teacher-researchers and professional lecturers, it offers to develop skills related to analyzing and implementing information and communication strategies from organizational, media, social and technical angles. It is backed by the PREFics laboratory of the University of Rennes 2.

The Organizational Communication and Digital Innovation course aims to train communication professionals for organizations likely to occupy managerial positions in different types of structures: companies, communication consulting and service delivery agencies, local authorities, associative, cultural, and medico-social sector. The training is oriented towards the acquisition of analytical and diagnostic capacities of the organizational environments where the missions will be carried out and the ability to translate these diagnoses into recommendations, argumentative strategies, and operational actions. The training also aims to train professionals to support the evolution of organizational forms in the context of digital transformation.

Know-how and skills:

  • Analyze social, technical, organizational, and media information systems;

  • Analyze the context and the challenges of communication for an organization;

  • Audit the communication devices;

  • Select and prioritize media and social networks;

  • Develop communication strategies;

  • Analyze the dynamics of innovation;

  • Analyze and support the uses of digital machines and information systems;

  • Analyze, implement and support logics of communication, cooperation, and coordination of action;

  • Pilot digital projects;

  • Analyze the evolution of organizational forms in the digital context.

    The mention "Communication of organizations" is linked very closely with two other mentions of the Communication department: "Public and political communication" and "Information and communication." The three terms' fundamental and methodological teaching units are pooled over the two years to provide a base of knowledge, methods, and transversal skills in the field of human and social sciences useful for the information and social sciences. Communication: epistemology of information and communication, societal issues of digital technology, sociology, semiology, intercultural communication, audiovisual methodologies for analyzing activity, initiation into research.

    Occupational integration:

    The openings targeted by the course concern professional information and communication engineering: business sector, industry, and services, associations, social and solidarity economy sector, public sector, agency sector. Candidates for the course are intended in particular to find managerial jobs as:

  • Directors, directors, communication managers,

  • Communication officers,

  • Public relations officers,

  • Press attaché (s),

  • Responsible for organizational changes in the digital context,

  • Consultants in organization and communication (freelance or in agency),

  • Community Manager,

  • Creators, business creators.

    This involves training general information and communication professionals capable of assuming responsibility for an organization's information and communication service. This master's degree, backed by the PREFICS laboratory, also makes it possible to consider pursuing a doctoral thesis.
