Program Description

With increasing student and practitioner interest in exploring culture, spirituality, and healing options, including the use of integrative therapies, the Center offers a post-baccalaureate Certificate in Integrative Therapies & Healing Practices. This innovative, interdisciplinary graduate program enables students to acquire advanced knowledge and skills to enhance their professional careers, their own lives as well as the lives of their patients.

Students can individualize coursework and focus on an area of interest:

Health Coaching

Clinical applications – including botanical medicine, mind/body interventions, music, and essential oils

Leadership in Optimal Healing Environments

Nature-Based Therapeutics

Individuals who already have a graduate-level degree or who are unsure whether they want to pursue a graduate degree will be able to enroll in the program and receive an official certificate from the University of Minnesota. Should participants decide to continue their studies, certificate credits may transfer to a master's or doctoral program.

The Bakken Center's certificate is a  graduate-level program . It can be completed concurrently with another graduate program or completed independently.

About the School

The School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota is the first school of nursing to offer a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in nurse anaesthesia, nursing informatics, and health innovation and leadership. The school provides its students with a world-class opportunity to learn, lead, and discover in a dynamic learning and research environment. This Nursing Collaboratory facilitates research, education, and evidence-based practice in numerous ways.
