Bioengineering is steadily becoming the world's largest industrial sector. There is an increasing demand in the job market for doctors who are competent in the latest technologies and engineers who are properly trained in basic medical science and biotechnology. The Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland is the home of this emerging academic discipline, exciting interdisciplinary degree programs, and faculty and students who want to make a difference in human health and biological science through education, research, and invention. Students in our Master of Engineering program will learn to integrate principles of engineering and biological systems to develop new technologies and devices that improve human health, fight disease, and aid persons with disabilities.
