Graduate programs in Earth Sciences (EARTH) are focused primarily on learning advanced methodologies and critical thinking by conducting focused research centered around one of three disciplinary cores that foster research reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the field (geophysics and tectonics, marine and environmental geology, and volcanology/geochemistry/petrology). In addition, students can pursue studies in planetary science and mineral physics with advisors in the Hawai‘i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology (HIGP)
The School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is a world-class research and academic institution focused on informing solutions to some of the world’s most vexing problems. Through an integrated, comprehensive, and sustained system of Earth and planetary observations, research, and education, SOEST staff work to transform the way people live on Earth by enabling a healthy public, economy, and planet.
